Paradise in Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Raja Ampat is a regency in West Papua Province, Indonesia. It has an area about 46.108 km2, and almost 85% of it is the sea. It coastline is about 4.860 km. It region has 60.000 residents that spread out in 35 over 610 islands. There are 4 big islands: Misool Island, Waigeo Island, Batanta Island, Salawati Island. The local communities work as a fisherman.

People in Raja Ampat are warm and kind. They are welcome to tourists. The residents of Raja Ampat are Christian and Moslem. But they are living in peace though different beliefs. I suggest you bring areca to Raja Ampat, because it is the symbol of peace. 

Raja Ampat just like a paradise. As far as you see, your eyes will be spoiled by beautiful scenery. It place has amazing underwater biodiversity (the best in the world) with the coral reef that rises to the top. 

The study says that Raja Ampat Islands has 75% of world's coral species. So it is not surprisingly that many biodiversity life underwaters of Raja Ampat. For instance, you can find Manta rays, dugongs, seahorses, barracuda, reef sharks, turtles, tuna, etc.

When you are visiting Raja Ampat, there are two kinds of accommodation. First, you can take the resort around it place. Second you could spend the night on the Pinisi Ship (Indonesian traditional ship). Raja Ampat, classified as an expensive tourism in Indonesia. Therefore, it dominated by foreign tourists.

If you want to Raja Ampat, you can through Jakarta, Manado, or Makasar, and then to Sorong (Dominique Edward Osok Airport). There is no direct flight yet. From Sorong you must take a boat to Raja Ampat Islands and it takes about 3 hours.
